About Combining NeoGraft and PRP
Combining NeoGraft and PRP is an advanced hair restoration treatment that combines follicular unit extraction techniques with the natural regenerative properties found in your own blood. This procedure takes healthy hair follicles that are resistant to hair shedding or thinning and transplants them to areas of the scalp that are experiencing hair loss, restoring a fuller head of hair. This combination offers thicker, denser, and longer-lasting results that blend seamlessly with your existing hair.
About NeoGraft
The NeoGraft device is a follicular unit extraction (FUE) machine that extracts individual hair follicles using a circular punch tool and gentle air pressure. The NeoGraft device is the first FDA-approved follicular unit harvesting and implementation system. This device offers precise targeting and can safely store the extracted follicles throughout the procedure, ensuring they remain pristine and viable for transplantation. Because it extracts follicles individually, you will not need to worry about any significant scarring—the punches are discreet, minimal, and easily concealable beneath both shorter and longer hair.
About Platelet-Rich Plasma
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a concentrated solution of plasma that we derive from a small sample of each patient’s blood. This serum contains more than 20 different types of growth factors, as well as small proteins called cytokines, which are essential for intercellular communication. (2) When your specialist administers PRP into the scalp, these growth factors promote the formation of new blood vessels (angiogenesis), which can elevate your body’s collagen production and awaken dormant hair follicles. Preparation
Once you schedule your procedure, your specialist will provide a set of detailed instructions to help you prepare. Preparation is an essential step to ensuring your ideal results, so you must follow each guideline. They may instruct you to:
- Refrain from taking any medications or supplements that may thin your blood.
- Take time away from your career and other responsibilities to allow for proper recovery.
- Discontinue any nicotine use several weeks in advance.
- Avoid alcohol for several days before and after your appointment.
- Grow your hair out to ensure it is long enough for your procedure.
- Arrange for transportation home after treatment.
Procedure
On the day of your procedure, a member of our team will take you to a private treatment room. They will cleanse and sanitize your skin before taking a small sample of your blood. They will then process the sample through a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the other cellular components of your blood.
While processing this sample, your specialist will shave your scalp and administer a local anesthetic to ensure a comfortable experience. The NeoGraft device will then use air-pressured suction to carefully extract individual hair follicles from areas of the scalp that are resistant to thinning or shedding. This ensures that there is minimal scarring and less trauma or damage to your scalp and follicles.
Your specialist will then create several small incisions around the treatment area. They will make these incisions in a pattern that replicates your natural hair growth pattern. Your specialist will then carefully place the extracted follicles into the incisions, focusing on creating a seamless transition between your pre-existing hair and the treated areas. Your specialist will then take the PRP and either inject it or topically apply it to the treatment areas to enhance your results.
Recovery
After your hair transplant, you may experience some redness, swelling, or tenderness in both the treated areas and donor sites. You may manage these effects using over-the-counter medications and plenty of rest. After several days, you may start to notice small scabs around the scalp. This is a sign that your scalp is starting to heal, and it is crucial that you do not pick or scratch at these scabs. It is also important that throughout the first few weeks of your treatment, you do not attempt to pull at your transplanted hairs.
You may return to your career and other light responsibilities after resting for several days. However, you will need to continue to avoid engaging in strenuous or physically demanding activities until your specialist clears you.
Results
You will be able to start experiencing new hair growth after 3 to 6 months after your hair transplant procedure. However, the full results will become more apparent after approximately 1 year. Your hair will initially look thin and fine, but it will slowly become thicker and denser as it continues to grow in. Your results will also appear natural as our specialists take the time to ensure your results seamlessly blend with your natural hair growth, creating a seamless blend between the treated and untreated hair.
The results of your combined NeoGraft and PRP hair restoration treatment are long-lasting, as once your hair grows back, you may cut, style, and wear it as you please. The NeoGraft also leaves behind minimal scarring, making it a great option for patients with both short and long hair.
