About Hair Specialists at PSL

Hair loss is a widespread concern that affects more than 80 million people in the country. (1) The appearance and prevalence of one’s hair play an important role in how they express themselves. Over time, hormonal fluctuations or the natural effects of aging can cause your hair to naturally thin or fall out, leaving areas of your scalp patchy or bald. This can be distressing for many, leading patients to seek the help and expertise of a hair specialist.

Our hair specialists are true aesthetic professionals who can effectively address a range of different scalp and hair concerns. They can each identify the cause of your hair loss and create an effective treatment regimen to combat it. By meeting with one, you can start to work towards thicker, denser, and newer hair growth that you can style and cut as you please.

Available Treatments

Our hair specialists can perform different treatments and procedures to help you address each of your concerns. Available options include NeoGraft hair transplantation, platelet-rich plasma injections, Nutrafol products, PDGF+, Xtresse Hair Growth gummies, and red light therapy. During your personal consultation, your hair specialist will assess your scalp to determine the best approach for your unique case.

Neograft Hair Transplant

NeoGraft hair transplantation is a hair loss treatment that takes individual hair follicles from the back and sides of the scalp and transplants them into areas experiencing thinning or shedding. This procedure is a variation of the follicular unit extraction (FUE) hair transplant, but it uses an automated device to streamline graft harvesting and placement processes. The NeoGraft procedure is ideal for patients who wear their hair both long and short, as it does not utilize any incisions and leaves minimal scarring. (2)

During this procedure, your surgeon and hair technicians will use the NeoGraft device to extract individual hair follicles that are resistant to hair loss. The surgeon then preserves the grafts in a solution before the transplantation. Your surgeon will carefully create small incisions in your scalp at varying angles and degrees to match the natural growth patterns. They will then carefully place each FUE graft in the incisions.

PRP For Hair Loss

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a minimally invasive treatment that uses cellular components found in whole blood to address natural hair loss. After collecting a small sample of your blood, your specialist will then process it to create a concentrated solution of plasma, white blood cells, and platelets. They will then inject this solution into the areas of the scalp you wish to treat.

The PRP solution contains more than 20 types of growth factors, which may regulate cell migration, proliferation, and angiogenesis. (3) This can help activate important biological mechanisms that promote hair growth or create an ideal environment for healthy hair follicles to take root. (4) The solution secretes these growth factors within ten minutes after activation, and over 95% of the growth factors in the solution are secreted within one hour after receiving treatment. (3)

Nutrafol

Nutrafol is a collection of different hair care products that each use biotechnology to promote thicker, denser, and healthier hair. These products are physician-formulated to target the root causes of hair loss, such as hormones, aging, stress, nutrition, and metabolism, to achieve certain effects, such as:

  • Reduced hair shedding
  • Thicker hair volume
  • Faster hair growth
  • Stronger strands
  • Longer lengths (5)

We offer several different Nutrafol products, including supplements, shampoos, conditioners, hair serums, and scalp masks. During your consultation, your hair specialist can help you determine which products are best suited for your needs.

Ariessence Pure PDGF+

Ariessence Pure PDGF+ is a topical treatment designed to restore your natural hair growth and address signs and symptoms of hair loss. This treatment uses platelet-derived growth factors (PDGF) that scientists have lab-engineered to resemble naturally occurring PDGFs, which are known for their regenerative properties. When this formula is administered to the scalp, the PDGFs may promote angiogenesis, which can lead to improvements in your scalp’s general circulation.

Your hair specialist can perform this treatment with a SkinPen microneedling device on your scalp, specifically in the regions experiencing balding or shedding. This device features rows of fine needles, which create microchannels on your scalp’s surface. Once the microchannels appear uniform and even, the ariessence Pure PDGF+ will be applied to the area, allowing the serum to soak into the channels and penetrate the deeper layers of the scalp.

Red Light Therapy

Red light therapy is a form of low-level light therapy (LLLT) that uses red light to stimulate new hair growth. This treatment uses photobiomodulation, which uses light energy to promote cellular activity, encourage self-healing, and reduce any inflammation.

Your specialist can perform this non-invasive treatment by using a red light device on areas of the scalp experiencing hair loss. As your scalp absorbs light, it promotes cell proliferation and prolongs the anagen phase of your hair cycle, or the growing phase. (6)
