About MOXI
MOXI is a laser treatment that is designed to address various skin concerns, such as mild sun damage, uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation, uneven texturing, and early signs of aging. This treatment uses non-ablative light energy, which targets the underlying layers of the skin without damaging the surface. The laser energy targets the water found in the skin and heats it to create controlled micro-injuries. (2) This stimulates the body’s wound healing response, which results in collagen synthesis, skin regeneration, and skin cell turnover, leading to improvements in texture and complexion after each treatment session. The way the laser distributes energy in a fractional pattern allows the skin to heal and regenerate quicker, providing rejuvenation with little to no downtime.
While visible improvements can be seen after just one session, we recommend a series of 2-4 sessions spaced a few weeks apart for optimal results.
Benefits
MOXI can significantly enhance a patient’s skin quality. The benefits associated with MOXI often include:
- Skin Rejuvenation: By promoting new cell growth, MOXI can help revitalize tired or dull-looking skin.
- Targeted Pigment Reduction: Hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tones, and dark spots can be diminished with the laser.
- Improved Skin Texture: Patients with rough or uneven skin will be able to enjoy smoother skin after their treatment.
- Collagen Stimulation: MOXI effectively stimulates the production of collagen, which is an important component of skin firmness and elasticity.
- Little to No Downtime: MOXI requires little to no downtime following treatment, allowing most patients to return to their daily routines immediately.
- Customizable Treatment Options: We can tailor each MOXI session to meet the unique needs and concerns of each patient, ensuring personalized outcomes.
- Versatile Applications: MOXI can be used on various areas of the body, including the arms, legs, face, neck, chest, and hands.
- High Safety Profile: As a non-ablative treatment, MOXI offers a safer alternative to more invasive procedures. MOXI is FDA-approved, meaning the device has undergone rigorous testing and meets safety standards.
Candidates
Suitable candidates for MOXI include anyone interested in enhancing the appearance and health of their skin. MOXI is especially effective for addressing skin concerns such as uneven tone or texturing, and can even diminish some of the effects of superficial sun damage.
This treatment is often performed as a form of prejuvenation for patients wanting to take action against early visible signs of aging, such as fine lines or creases. A specialist will determine each patient’s candidacy during their personal consultation.
Personal Consultation
When attending a consultation at our Lexington office, the patient should be prepared to converse openly with our team. A specialist from our team will ask each patient about their medical history, skin concerns, and desired results before performing a thorough evaluation of the skin. Using the gathered information, our specialist will craft a treatment plan. They may speak with the patient regarding any additional or alternative treatments that may also be performed to enhance the health and appearance of their skin.

Preparation
Preparation for a MOXI laser treatment is considered to be very minimal. Patients may be instructed to temporarily modify their skincare routines to avoid using certain harsh or heavy skincare products, such as chemical exfoliants or retinoid products. On the day of the treatment itself, each patient should arrive with a clean face, free of any makeup or skincare products.
Procedure
Each patient’s MOXI treatment will begin with the cleansing of the treatment area. While the most common area to treat is the face, MOXI can also treat areas such as the arms, legs, hands, neck, and chest. A topical anesthetic is typically only necessary for more aggressive treatments, as the MOXI treatment is generally well-tolerated.
The specialist will pass the laser over the patient’s skin as it administers pulses of energy. They will continue this motion multiple times, ensuring the laser energy has been evenly applied to the targeted area. Patients report a “warm and prickly” sensation during treatment as opposed to pain. Following the treatment, the specialist will apply moisturizer to soothe and hydrate the skin. The length of a MOXI session depends on the number of passes the specialist makes over the skin, but most sessions only take approximately 8-10 minutes.
After Treatment
There is little to no downtime associated with MOXI. This means that each patient will be free to return to their daily schedules after their treatment session. The skin may appear red or feel warm, similar to a sunburn, but these effects will dissipate on their own within hours. Some patients may experience minor flaking over the following several days as the skin regenerates, but this may be managed with recommended moisturizers and gentle cleansers. Exfoliants, chemical peels, retinoids, and other harsher skincare products should be avoided in the initial period after treatment.
Results
Most patients will be able to start noticing smoother, clearer results within a week after their first MOXI treatment. Patients will be able to enjoy healthier, more rejuvenated skin as their collagen levels build up and the skin cells gradually regenerate themselves. Patients often experience radiant, glowing skin after their treatment. Visible signs of aging, such as wrinkles and creases, appear diminished, especially after a full treatment series. Individuals see the most benefits when undergoing a series of 2-4 treatments, with the exact number of sessions depending on the skin concerns and desired results.
Corresponding Procedures
Several procedures can be combined with MOXI for deeper rejuvenation and more comprehensive results, including dermal fillers and/or neurotoxins.
